About Tennessee Ernie Ford
Born Ernest Jennings Ford on February 13th, 1919 in Bristol, Tennessee, Tennessee Ernie Ford has made an indelible impact on America and the world through his unparalleled accomplishments in radio, records and television.
Throughout his legendary career spanning over 50 years, Ernie Ford's early successes as a radio personality led to his signing with Capitol Records in 1949. Through 1976, he released a total of eighty-three albums on the label--and literally scores of single records, including his classic version of Merle Travis' timeless anthem to the working man, "Sixteen Tons"...at the time of its release, the fastest selling single in Capitol's history.
About The Ford Show
On Thursday night, October 4th, 1956, NBC premiered The Ford Show Starring Tennessee Ernie Ford.
As prime-time's # 1 half-hour variety show for five years, The Ford Show featured all the ingredients of the top variety shows of the day; Hollywood's greatest guest stars, top-of-the-line production, and terrific music. But one simple element separated it from all others...Ernie closed virtually every show with a hymn, a spiritual or a song of faith. For the time, it was a bold and powerful statement for a popular entertainer of Ford's stature to be making on live television, especially in the face of the initial objections from Madison Avenue and the network. But it was a statement that would become the trademark of his career, and in many ways, the mark of his life. It would earn him the distinction of almost single-handedly bringing inspirational music into the mainstream of American entertainment...an enduring legacy of the lasting impact that one man's expression of faith can have on millions of people.

I wish I had it on DVD too. It was such a good movie, very moving.
🌲🌹Anyone here 2024😭🌲
Эта песня приносит какой-то особенный оттенок в игру про пост-апокалипсис. Я хоть и плохо знаю английский, но после прослушивания навивается какая-то тоска и грусть.
I always loved this song and his voice just brings it all better he has a beautiful voice❤
He was one of my favorites 😊
Wish I got to witness this when this was as released
Love this song
truly awesome
Growing up my father sang this all time and in my house so did a recording of Tennessee Ernie Ford. Thank you for letting me touch a memory.
I was 10 years old when I first heard this song. It brings back memories. My parents loved this song. Just loved the way this man signed. RIP Tennessee Ernie Ford.
Song so good I had to play ⏯️ twice
Brilliant absolutely brilliant 💯
he bridged gap between rock n roll and country great rockin ern album love it
Love Ernie to life.
Tennessee Ernie Ford had such a glorious voice and this song really showcases it well. So sad, but so beautiful.
Very happyyyyy!!!!! 😂❤😊
Kookamonga, Seattle anyone get my reference?
Did that dog have a TV show? What was it called?
Man I'm so glad this wasn't the entertainment I had haha. We always complain about how over commercialized things are but sheesh. It's especially crazy comparing it to Ernies reputation for singing songs like 16 tons and the such. Either way I love being subscribed to this channel it's like a time machine and I get to see a piece of the late 50s early 60s in all its shades the good the bad and the boring.
Thanks for subscribing!
Me and my grandpa and my dad use to sing this way back in 1973 they passed in 79 in a car wreck rip tom weed and boone weed im now 67 my name abraham weed i was only 22 when they passed
It’s been decades since I heard these guys. I forgot that they were decent musicians.
Can you imagine a tv show ending with a hymn in 2024?
I remember my mom playing his gospel music when I was growing up!
Fallout Vibes
Velhos tempos, belos dias! Embora nao tenha nascido na época em que o sr. Ernie cantava, mas gostei das suas músicas e interpretações. O cara era gênio. Mais um filho privilegiado de Deus. Amém?
This is the Battle of New Orleans tune
In 1814 we took a little trip…
Those were the days!!
Благодаря Fallout 76 я узнал про этого очень талантливого певца, Спасибо Эрни, за отличную музыку❤
Wish I had one of those TV sets that stopped broadcasting while you were talking
I was in high school when this wonderful song was a big hit and we all loved Tennessee Earnie Ford. I remember sitting around a large table with a bunch of friends singing this song at our Senior Prom, having the time of our lives, ❤❤❤
TEF had something for everyone on his show. I was quite young when this aired and loved it.
😊
Wow! What a voice. So rich and reverberating.
Wished they would have sang all the verses... Could listen to this all day and night. Closest feeling of being in heaven listening to angels singing!Hope to hear them in Heaven someday! Dedicated to Shanise B.✝️
I loved this!!
Only Ford can sing this song. It's his.
Divertido comercial.
No wonder we say good old days.
First time i ever heard this song, and - miracle of miracles - i understand every word both of them sing! A lost art! Try that with anything you hear on radio or TV these days.
Дааа, люди тогда выглядели совсем другими и счастливыми.60 лет спустя всё не так
Almost 70ty years later and the song is still relatable to the regular worker.
My smile is wide. 😊
i have rememberberries about watchin' this on our tv back all them kid days ago
When men could sing and songs were wonderful.
Missing the old days. 😢
Much admiration for this man.
❤
